What happened
A fire caused by what state-owned Petrojam described as an operational incident was confined to one section of its Kingston refinery. Emergency teams extinguished the blaze and continued cooling operations into Friday morning. All personnel were accounted for and no injuries were reported. Several operating units remained shut as a precaution while Petrojam assessed damage and investigated the incident, but the company said storage, fuel availability and daily loading from Kingston and Montego Bay were unaffected. Reporting that a leak occurred during a restart remained preliminary and is not treated here as the established cause.
