What happened

A fire broke out in the mild-hydrocracking unit at Romania's largest refinery, Petromidia, following maintenance work on the hydrocracking equipment. Rompetrol Rafinare's internal emergency service and refinery dispatcher responded; the unit and other refinery sections were evacuated. One firefighter was injured. There were no other casualties, and the unit remained offline for rehabilitation into late 2023.
