What happened

A control-equipment malfunction aboard the liquefied-hydrogen tanker caused its gas-combustion unit to overheat and a hydrogen flame to propagate briefly onto the deck while the vessel was berthed. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau classified it as a serious marine fire occurrence. No fire spread, explosion, injury or damage resulted.
