What happened

Ukraine's General Staff said Ukrainian forces struck the Syzran oil refinery during the same overnight operation that hit the Ilsky refinery. The Associated Press report did not include Russian confirmation, independently verified imagery, a damage assessment, casualties or evidence of a new production shutdown at Syzran, so this record preserves the strike as an attributed Ukrainian claim. A later analysis by the OSINT monitors Exilenova+ and world.militares, reported by Militarnyi on 14 August, said satellite/ground imagery showed damage to two atmospheric-vacuum distillation units (AVT-5 and AVT-6), the 43-102 catalytic cracking unit, the PGI-DIG/280 high-octane gasoline unit, the L-35/11-600 catalytic-reforming unit (onto which a smokestack reportedly collapsed) and a hydrocarbon processing/stabilization (CAS) unit, affecting both primary and secondary refining and high-octane fuel-component production. This OSINT damage assessment has not been independently verified by wire services or confirmed by Rosneft/Russian authorities, so it is recorded as reported rather than documented. It is separate from the 4 August attack and the refinery's other repeated 2026 incidents already recorded on the map.
