What happened

A compressed-natural-gas cylinder on a truck exploded while the vehicle was being refuelled at an Indraprastha Gas Limited CNG station near Tikri Kalan Metro Station in outer Delhi. Three people died. Early reports variously listed three or five additional people injured, so this entry uses the conservative figure of at least three injured rather than treating either preliminary count as final. Delhi Fire Service received the call at 15:37 and sent six fire engines, which extinguished the fire. Police and forensic investigators were examining whether a gas leak, cylinder defect, equipment failure or refuelling fault caused the explosion. No authoritative finding reviewed for this record linked the blast to an earlier reported pipeline complaint, so that claim is not included.
