What happened

Ukrenergo reported new attack-related power outages on the morning of 7 October in Poltava, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Kherson oblasts after a large Russian missile-and-drone barrage. The operator said emergency restoration had begun where security conditions permitted. It also said scheduled household outages of 0.5 to 1.5 stages and industrial power restrictions were in force in parts of Ukraine throughout the day because of earlier and continuing Russian attacks. Ukrainian authorities said Russia launched about 70 missiles, including ballistic weapons, as well as attack drones and that energy infrastructure was a principal target across Kyiv and 12 oblasts. The five named regions are confirmed outage areas, not five verified impact coordinates: Ukrenergo did not identify the affected substations, power plants or distribution equipment, give a disconnected-customer total, or attribute the nationwide casualty count specifically to energy sites. The marker is a country-level reference and must not be interpreted as an impact location.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
