What happened

Three Syrian Electricity Company workers were killed in an explosion during maintenance at the Baniyas Thermal Power Plant. The company's public-relations director said the blast occurred while workers were replacing a component of a hydrogen tank; Tartous Governorate's emergency director described it as an explosion involving a hydrogen compressor. Civil Defence responded and authorities continued investigating the circumstances. The operator said the plant remained operational and electricity generation was not affected. No sabotage or hostile action was reported, so this is recorded as a fatal industrial-maintenance accident rather than a conflict attack.
