What happened

An explosion occurred in a furnace at the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit while Barauni Refinery was being restarted after a planned shutdown. IndianOil said there was no fire or death and that 19 people—five employees and fourteen contract workers—received injuries and were out of danger. The affected primary unit was isolated while other refinery units remained operational.
