What happened
A leak in a spherical tank pump at Sinopec's Maoming Petrochemical complex ignited a fire in an intermediate tank of the ethylene cracker's aromatics unit. The company shut its No. 2 ethylene cracker, an LDPE unit, and two polypropylene units as a precaution. This was an accidental industrial fire, not an attack.
