What happened
A fire broke out in a 30,000-litre oil-storage tank at BPCL's Kochi refinery in Irumpanam during refilling. A Thrippunithura fire-service official said the tank's top valve exploded after a pressure variation. Refinery and municipal crews brought the fire under control within approximately 15 minutes, and no injuries or casualties were reported. The reviewed article's URL refers to ethanol, but its report describes the equipment only as an oil-storage tank; this record therefore does not assign a more specific product without corroboration. This was a separate incident from the refinery's 8 July cable-trench fire.
