ENEOS Sendai refinery — repeated CDU shutdown

16–25 April 2026

Sendai, Miyagi, Japan

What happened

ENEOS's 145,000 bbl/d crude distillation unit at Sendai shut unexpectedly on 16 April, two days after restarting from another unplanned outage that began on 31 March. ENEOS later said the unit would restart from 25 April and warned nearby residents that restart flaring could be unusually visible. The percentage reflects the refinery's sole reported crude-distillation capacity, not necessarily every downstream unit.
