What happened

Reuters, citing Bulgarian authorities, reports the Liberian-flagged, Greek-managed Contship Jet sank after three sea drones struck it in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone while sailing from Haifa to Constanța with 421 containers. The operator says all 18 crew reached Varna safely. Responsibility is unestablished. Initial government inspections found no visible pollution; hazardous cargo is not evidence of a fuel spill. This is a container vessel, not an identified oil tanker. The approximate offshore marker is not a surveyed wreck position. Actual-vessel photo reuse was not established; no substitute image is used.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
