What happened

A strong explosion was reported inside ENAP's Aconcagua refinery in Concón. ENAP activated its contingency plan, isolated the affected unit and said there were no injuries or environmental impacts; the remainder of the refinery continued operating and the company said fuel supply was not at risk. A local environmental organization identified the affected equipment as part of the refinery's diesel-producing MHC unit and called for a detailed investigation. Public reporting reviewed here did not establish a final cause or document sustained production loss.
