Komsomolsk-on-Amur refinery — reported fire

11 August 2026 · Morning (local time)

Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Krai, Russia

What happened

Open-source video circulated on 11 August showed flames and a column of dark smoke reported to be at Rosneft's Komsomolsk refinery in Khabarovsk Krai. The imagery supports recording a visible fire, but no reviewed statement from Rosneft, regional authorities or emergency services confirmed the affected unit, fire extent, casualties, pollution, production impact or cause. Claims that the refinery was attacked are not established. Its location roughly 6,500 kilometres from Ukraine and beyond demonstrated Ukrainian long-range drone operations is contextual only and does not prove or disprove sabotage, an internal accident or another cause. The marker uses Rosneft's published facility-address coordinates rather than a verified fire location within the refinery complex.
