LOOP Marine Terminal — transfer-buoy crude spill
26 February 2026
Offshore Grand Isle, Louisiana, United States
What happened
The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port reported a crude-oil release of less than 100 barrels at its Grand Isle Block 59 transfer buoy. The release was secured but produced a slick about 10 nautical miles long. Hazardous offshore conditions initially delayed spill response and repair work. NOAA provided trajectory support; no injuries were reported.
