22 June 2022
Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov Oblast, Russia
What happened
Two drones struck the Novoshakhtinsk refinery near Russia's border with Ukraine. The first hit a processing unit, causing a gas leak, explosion and fire that spread to nearby equipment; the second damaged equipment in the crude-oil tank farm without starting another fire. The refinery confirmed that operations at the approximately 112,000 bbl/d plant were suspended. No casualties were reported.
