What happened
An overnight Ukrainian drone attack damaged the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery and halted operations, Rostov governor Yuri Slyusar said. The Associated Press reported that it was the fourth Ukrainian attempt against the refinery in the preceding year, based on Ukraine General Staff data. Authorities did not publish the damaged unit, quantify lost output or provide a restart estimate. This is a distinct 2026 event and is not merged with the refinery's separately recorded 2022 and 2024 strikes.
When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
