What happened

Ukraine's General Staff said Ukrainian forces struck Rosneft's Saratov refinery overnight on 1–2 August and that a fire followed. Reuters subsequently reported, citing two industry sources, that damage to production facilities and fires forced the refinery to halt oil processing from 2 August. Its sole primary crude-distillation unit, AVT-6, was shut down, and the refinery suspended fuel sales on the St Petersburg Exchange. The sources estimated repairs could take two to three weeks. The plant has roughly seven million tonnes per year of nameplate capacity and had resumed operations about a week after a separate 8 July drone strike already recorded on the map, making this a distinct repeat attack rather than a continuation of the July outage.
