What happened
Maritime analysts cited by Reuters identified the second of two near-simultaneous VLCC attacks as the Liberian-flagged SENEGAL PROSPERITY, operated by South Korea's Sinokor and carrying about 2 million barrels of Saudi crude. UKMTO Warning 124-26 independently confirmed that an unnamed outbound tanker was struck by three unknown projectiles approximately 17 nautical miles east of Khasab at 20:00 UTC, with no casualties or environmental impact reported. Reuters-linked reporting and other maritime analysts associated that warning with SENEGAL PROSPERITY, but UKMTO did not name the vessel and some open-source accounts instead associated Warning 124-26 with SIDR. The vessel identification is therefore retained as an assessment rather than presented as an official UKMTO identification. The attacker, projectile type, damage extent and subsequent operational status remain unconfirmed.
When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
