Kozacha Bay fuel depot, Sevastopol — major drone-strike fire
29 April 2023
Sevastopol, Russian-occupied Crimea, Ukraine
What happened
A drone strike ignited a major fire at a Russian-operated fuel depot at Kozacha Bay in occupied Sevastopol. The Moscow-installed governor confirmed that a drone hit the tanks and said the fire was extinguished without casualties. Ukrainian military intelligence claimed more than 10 oil-product tanks with about 40,000 tonnes of capacity, intended for Russia's Black Sea Fleet, were destroyed; that number was a Ukrainian claim, while later satellite imagery independently confirmed damage to multiple tanks.
