What happened
Ukraine’s General Staff says its forces struck Tolyattikauchuk during operations on 23 October and overnight into 24 October, reporting an explosion and fire in the plant’s vicinity. Ukrinform and Kyiv Independent relay the statement; the latter says it could not independently verify the claims. The military describes the plant as producing synthetic rubber, monomers and high-octane gasoline additives, with some rubber used in solid rocket propellant. No operator-confirmed damage, production halt, released chemicals or plant-specific casualties are established. This is separate from the September 12 strike record. The marker is a Tolyatti city reference, not a verified impact point; other factories and an airfield in the same military statement are not merged into this facility record. Reuters, republished by The Moscow Times on 24 October, adds that Mayor Ilya Sukhikh acknowledged damage at several industrial facilities and preliminarily reported no deaths or injuries, without naming the facilities. This corroborates an industrial attack in the city, not independent verification of damage or lost output at Tolyattikauchuk. Casualties reported in Oryol in the same article concern a separate event and are not assigned here. Updated on 25 October 2026, 02:50 UTC+0.
