What happened

TPG's planned decommissioning of a legacy 4G packet core caused all 4G signalling links carrying live traffic to fail. Most customers could not make or receive voice or Wi-Fi calls. Of 147 attempted emergency calls, 104 reached Optus or Telstra through camp-on and 43 did not connect. ACMA found that TPG also failed to notify the emergency-call operator promptly. No adverse outcome was identified in the published welfare-check account.
