What happened

Centrenergo said a Russian attack overnight on 29–30 September damaged generating equipment at the Trypillia thermal power plant in Kyiv Oblast. The operator said specialists would assess the equipment and begin repairs once the security situation permitted, but withheld unit-level damage and operating details. Ukraine's prime minister described the wider overnight missile-and-drone barrage as the first attack of comparable scale and complexity against the country's energy system since the previous heating season; outages were reported in Kyiv and several oblasts.
