What happened

An explosion and fire broke out at Turkey's largest oil refinery, TÜPRAŞ İzmit, during maintenance work on a compressor around 1:30pm local time. Twelve employees suffered minor injuries and were expected to recover fully. The refinery's emergency team contained the fire within a few hours, and the affected unit was deactivated in a controlled manner while other operations continued normally.
