What happened
Libya's General Electricity Company said an attack put unit 4 at the Ubari gas power station out of service while intruders from the Brak al-Shati area entered unit 1 of the Man-Made River station and cut all feeding lines to the southern network, contributing to a total blackout across southern Libya. The two affected sites are geographically separate; the marker is placed at the Ubari station as a grouped regional reference. The available report did not identify the attackers, describe physical damage, state the outage duration or provide an independent investigation. This incident occurred in August 2019, not August 2026.
