Gulfstream barge, Tobago — bunker-fuel spill

7 February 2024

Cove, Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago

What happened

The overturned barge Gulfstream was found leaking bunker fuel off Cove, Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago's energy ministry reported that the discharge had stopped by 7 March; salvage teams later pumped about 32,303 barrels of recoverable hydrocarbons from the wreck before it was refloated. The recovered amount is not the measured quantity spilled. The origin and circumstances were investigated separately.
