Slavneft-YANOS refinery, Yaroslavl — large drone attack

What happened

Ukrainian forces struck the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, more than 700km from the Ukrainian border and about 250km northeast of Moscow, early on the morning of 27 July, in what was described as the largest reported drone attack on the plant to date. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strike; eyewitness videos showed explosions in the city and a road toward Moscow was closed afterward. Official confirmation of damage was not available in the cited reporting. This refinery had already been struck repeatedly in 2026, including on 6 July.
