Slavneft-YANOS refinery, Yaroslavl — renewed drone strike
6 August 2026 · Early morning (local time)
Yaroslavl, Russia
What happened
A Ukrainian drone attack on the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, roughly 700+ kilometres from Ukraine's border, ignited fires that burned across the site, with regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev confirming the attack via Telegram at around 03:00 local time. Militarnyi's OSINT review of video and photo evidence identified the exact strike location, and eyewitness footage showed thick black smoke over the plant. The refinery ranks among Russia's five largest by processing capacity and supplies petroleum products to Central and Northwestern Russia as well as military-industrial facilities; this was reported as the seventh strike on the plant in 2026 following a prior attack on 16 July. No casualties were reported and the reviewed sources did not confirm a production shutdown.
