What happened

Kyiv Independent, citing the monitoring channel Exilenova+ and UNIAN, reports that the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl was reportedly struck by drones overnight on 3 November, with local residents describing three separate fires in the industrial zone. No information on casualties or damage was available at publication and no official statement was reviewed. The refinery processes about 15 million tonnes of crude a year. Distinct from earlier 2026 strikes on the same refinery. Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev later said air defences repelled an attack by 124 drones on the refinery, that there was damage to the refinery’s infrastructure and that emergency services were extinguishing a fire; two plant employees were hospitalised with shrapnel wounds (Reuters; UNN). Russia’s military said it downed 856 drones nationwide overnight. ASTRA counted at least five fires from eyewitness footage. The extent of damage is being clarified.
