What happened

A Ukrainian-attributed missile barrage struck Belgorod on 30 August, causing a major fire and reported damage at Belgorod CHPP. Russian regional authorities reported two people killed—a man and a 16-year-old—and 16 injured across the wider city attack; available reporting did not place those casualties at the power plant. Separate impacts damaged the Estate Logistics sorting centre and Ozon logistics hub, and a projectile struck near the city's television tower. A widely circulated close-range video labelled as the moment a missile hit the CHPP has been geolocated instead to the television-tower area near 50.57514, 36.58140. Separate footage and reporting support the CHPP fire, but that particular clip must not be presented as visual proof of the plant impact. Social-media identifications of the weapon as HIMARS/GMLRS remain unverified. Public sources did not quantify generation loss, heat-supply interruption, outage duration or specific plant equipment damaged.
