What happened

ANI, citing Press TV and the IRGC Navy, reports Iran’s claim that two oil tankers, including a supertanker, exploded after striking naval mines while using what it called an unauthorised route through the Strait of Hormuz, and that both had switched off navigation and identification systems and ignored warnings. The vessels were not named and no damage, crew or pollution details were given. UKMTO separately reported a vessel struck by an unknown projectile the same day; the reviewed reporting does not establish whether the accounts describe the same vessel. The marker is a broad regional reference.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
