What happened

Jordan's armed forces said air defences engaged 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iran toward Jordan during the latest barrage, destroying 18; it said the other two fell in unpopulated areas and reported no casualties. Iran described the target as U.S. forces at Muwaffaq Salti, also known as Al Azraq air base, and claimed fighter-aircraft hangars were destroyed. Air & Space Forces Magazine subsequently reported, citing people familiar with the matter and an earlier CBS report, that one A-10 suffered severe wing damage and about eight F-15E fighters were lightly damaged but remained serviceable. U.S. officials said no American personnel were killed, and CENTCOM had not commented when that report appeared. A Sentinel-2 comparison published by OSINT613 and attributed to analyst BeamTracker marks at least four apparent post-strike changes: one on a taxiway and three at aircraft shelters. A separate report said Australian mapping platform Soar compared commercial images from 8 and 10 September and identified at least six suspected damage marks, including a possibly struck fighter hangar, possible marks beside a runway and changes at two UAV hangars. The assessments are retained separately because they use different imagery and counting methods. They support probable impacts at the airfield but cannot independently establish what equipment was present, the severity of every change or the reported aircraft-damage count. The combined evidence confirms material damage while leaving the exact aircraft losses and every claimed effect unresolved. Contemporary open-source accounts described some missiles as carrying cluster warheads, but Jordan's statement did not identify that warhead type. The marker identifies the airfield, not an individual impact point. War-wide U.S. casualty totals must not be assigned to this barrage.
