What happened

Two drones struck a military base in Jubayt, Red Sea State, on 30 July 2024 shortly after a graduation ceremony attended by Sudan's de facto leader and army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in what was reported as an attempted assassination. The SAF blamed the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), saying it had determined the drones' launch location without disclosing it publicly; the RSF denied responsibility and instead accused the Al-Bara' ibn Malik Battalion, an allied Islamist militia, framing the incident as internal SAF infighting.
