What happened

AFP, via Gulf News, reports UKMTO saying on 2 November that a vessel had been struck the previous day off the coast of Limah, Oman, around the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz. UKMTO quoted the master as saying an unknown projectile caused a hole on the starboard side; the vessel and crew were safe and no environmental impact was reported. The vessel’s name, type and the attacker were not given. A later live summary (Al Jazeera, as relayed) gives the UKMTO position as about 9 nautical miles (17 km) northeast of Limah. Updated on 3 November 2026, 00:20 UTC+0. Arab Times identifies the warning as UKMTO 193-26, with the report received at 20:20 UTC on 1 November, which distinguishes it from UKMTO 191 (15:09 UTC) and UKMTO 192 (off Ras Al Khafji). Updated on 3 November 2026, 04:30 UTC+0. Riviera Maritime Media identifies the vessel as the Panama-flagged bulk carrier Era S (46,681 dwt, managed from Istanbul), which remained operational. It is not an energy cargo vessel; it is recorded as part of the Hormuz shipping-attack pattern. Updated on 4 November 2026, 17:30 UTC+0. The marker is an approximate reference derived from that description.
