What happened
The master of a crude-oil tanker reported a port-side projectile strike approximately four nautical miles east of Oman. UKMTO Warning 149-26, dated 2 October at 21:42 UTC+0, reported all crew safe and no environmental impact. IMO names Promise, IMO 1038896, for a damaged vessel on the same date at the same four-nautical-mile offshore description, without pollution. Promise is therefore a candidate identity, but no reviewed primary source explicitly maps it to Warning 149; the record remains unnamed. Vessel imagery cannot be matched confidently to this notice. Cargo, attacker and damage extent remain unresolved. This is separate from Warning 148’s fire and blackout. Updated on 25 October 2026, 01:12 UTC+0.
When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
