What happened

A solid-fuel Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missile struck Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait on 30 May 2026, injuring approximately five U.S. personnel and civilian contractors with falling debris and destroying one MQ-9 Reaper drone outright while severely damaging a second, for a combined estimated loss of about $60 million. The strike came roughly 24 hours after President Trump announced a ceasefire framework calling for a 60-day extension of a regional truce originally established 7 April, and reporting described it as placing immediate strain on that verification process. This is a separate, later incident from the 28 February 2026 strike on the same base recorded elsewhere on this site.
