What happened

An explosion struck a Saudi crude-oil pipeline running from the offshore Abu Safa field across Saudi Arabia to Bahrain's Sitra refinery, at a point where the line runs above ground near the Shia-majority town of Buri, on the evening of 10 November 2017. The blast sent a plume of flames into the sky and damaged nearby vehicles and buildings; no injuries were reported. Bahrain's government characterized the explosion as an intentional act of sabotage carried out by 'terrorists acting under instruction from Iran,' with a cabinet statement linking it to alleged Iranian meddling in the region; Iran denied any involvement. Oil resumed flowing through the pipeline afterward.
