What happened

Russian forces launched ballistic missiles and jet-powered strike drones at Kyiv and surrounding communities overnight into 8 September. Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported two people killed and ten injured in Kyiv, with local authorities documenting damage to apartment buildings, a school, warehouses, garages and vehicles across several districts. Two people were evacuated from a 16-storey building and ten were rescued from a five-storey building. Authorities separately reported one person injured and damage to apartment buildings, a house, warehouse and production facility in Bila Tserkva, alongside damage elsewhere in Kyiv Oblast. No reviewed report identified an energy facility hit during this wave, so the marker represents the broader Kyiv attack and does not infer an energy-sector impact.
