What happened

Ukraine's General Staff subsequently said its forces struck the Rosneft-operated Ryazan oil refinery during the overnight 6 September attack. Geolocated fire imagery and a Sentinel satellite frame place the visible burn area at or beside the Isomal-2 isomerisation unit, which upgrades the original refinery identification beyond monitoring-channel reports. Isomal-2 converts low-octane feedstock into high-octane components used in automotive gasoline. Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov independently confirmed that drone debris caused a fire at an unnamed enterprise and said there were no preliminary casualties, but Russian authorities did not identify the refinery or acknowledge a direct impact. Available medium-resolution overhead imagery supports a fire at the facility; it does not by itself establish the exact equipment damaged, whether the unit was penetrated or how much production was interrupted.
