What happened

FACILITIES AT RISK — NOT A CONFIRMED DAMAGE OR SHUTDOWN EVENT. At 11:00 a.m. CDT on 1 September, the National Hurricane Center placed Tropical Storm Edouard about 40 miles east-southeast of Port Arthur, Texas, and 20 miles south-southwest of Cameron, Louisiana, with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph while moving northwest. The storm was approaching the upper Texas and southwest Louisiana coast after forecasts warned of possible significant strengthening. Its track exposed the Port Arthur–Beaumont refining and petrochemical complex, Sabine Pass shipping and LNG infrastructure, Cameron-area LNG facilities, coastal pipelines, terminals, offshore support operations and local power systems to wind, storm surge, heavy rain and flooding. This marker represents the exposed corridor rather than the storm centre or a damage location. At the time captured here, the reviewed sources did not confirm a refinery or LNG shutdown, production loss, spill, fire or physical damage caused by Edouard.
