What happened

A fire broke out at around 09:50 local time on 13 June 2017 at Singapore Refining Company's refinery on Jurong Island, Singapore's main petrochemical and refining hub. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed no casualties resulted from the incident, and the fire was extinguished within about 80 minutes by SRC's in-house emergency response team working with SCDF, by approximately 11:10am. Neither the precise cause of the fire nor which of the refinery's three crude distillation units (CDUs) was affected could be confirmed at the time of reporting, though local media indicated the affected CDU had been shut down indefinitely; SRC had not issued an official statement on the broader operational impact to its 290,000 barrel-per-day refinery at the time of the report reviewed. This was an accidental refinery fire, not an attack.
