What happened

Krasnodar Krai's operations centre said a Ukrainian drone attack on Sochi and the federal territory of Sirius caused a fire at an oil depot; authorities reported no casualties. Subsequent imagery-based reporting identified the Rosneft-Kubannefteprodukt depot beside Sochi airport and indicated that a second petroleum depot in the Sirius area also burned. A Planet image captured on 5 September, compared with a 30 August baseline, shows six tanks destroyed or heavily burned at the airport storage complex, with blackened pipework and surrounding surfaces. This is stronger evidence of the attack's physical scale than the initial ground reporting, although the image does not establish tank contents, released volume or the duration of supply disruption. Videos posted on the evening of 6 September showed heavy smoke and a renewed fire at the previously attacked Rosneft site. No regional air alert or official report of a fresh attack preceded that fire, and authorities had not explained its cause; it is therefore recorded here as an unresolved reignition or follow-on incident rather than a second confirmed strike. The grouped record distinguishes the officially confirmed 4 September attack from the imagery-based two-site assessment and the later unexplained fire.
